"I thought Tyler Johnson and Sam McBride played well both offensively and defensively," said Vermillion freshmen coach Eric Vanlacken.
The Tanagers jumped in front 5-3 at the end of the first period, trailed 11-10 at halftime, and then trailed 26-14 going into the final period.

"Our overall defense was much better," said coach Vanlacken.
The loss dropped the Vermillion freshmen to a record of 0-2, while Lennox improved to 8-1.
Vermillion sank 2 of 4 three-point attempts and hit 0 of 1 free throw tries. The Tanagers made 10 of 27 field goal attempts, while Lennox was 12 of 33 from the field. Lennox hit 3 of 8 three-point tries and hit 4 of 10 from the line.
