Tanager JV can’t keep pace with EP-J Huskies

The Vermillion JV Tanagers lost to the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies 42-24 in girls' basketball Jan. 17 at Vermillion.

"We need to develop more intensity and desire if we expect to improve on the court," said VHS coach Lenni Billberg.

The Tanagers fell behind 12-4 after the opening period, trailed 20-10 at halftime, and then trailed 34-18 going into the final period.

The loss dropped VHS to a record of 1-5, while EP-J improved to 5-1.

VHS hit 0 of 3 three-point attempts and sank 4 of 24 free throw tries. The Tanagers sank 11 of 35 field goal attempts, while EP-J was 20 of 42 from the field. EP-J connected on 0 of 4 three-pointers and sank 2 of 8 free throw attempts.
