Tanager JV downed by West Central 47-39

The Vermillion Tanagers were downed by the West Central Trojans 47-39 in boys' basketball Jan. 5 at Hartford as the winners held a slim lead after each quarter.

The loss gave Vermillion JV a record of 2-2 while West Central moved to 4-1.

West Central jumped in front 11-7 after the first quarter, and held an edge of 17-15 in the second quarter. Vermillion JV had an advantage of 10-8 in the third period to shave the deficit to only 36-32 going into the final period.

The Vermillion JV connected on 5 of 13 three-point attempts and hit 14 of 20 from the line. The Tanagers connected on 10 of 35 field goals, while West Central was 20 of 45 from the field. West Central sank 4 of 9 three-pointers and sank 3 of 8 from the line.
