Tanagers' poor shooting leads to defeat by EP-J
The Vermillion Tanagers watched a second-half lead evaporate and were defeated by the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies 47-28 in boys' basketball Jan. 17 at home as the Tanagers shot just 27 percent from the field.

The Vermillion JV had led by one at halftime.

"We made a poor effort in the second half," said Vermillion JV coach Jon Ruevers. "We need to play the entire geme."

The game was knotted 11-11 after the first quarter, the Tanagers led 19-18 after the second quarter, and then trailed 34-24 going into the final period.

Vermillion saw its record fall to 3-4, while EP-J upped its mark to 5-2.

Vermillion sank 4 of 10 three-point tries and made 4 of 20 from the line. The Tanagers sank 10 of 37 field goal attempts, while EP-J was 21 of 43 from the field. EP-J hit 3 of 8 three-point attempts and connected on 2 of 4 free throw attempts.
