It was the first time USD had allowed 100 or more points since a 110-101 overtime loss to Minnesota-Duluth on Dec. 28, 2003.
In the contest, USD senior All-American Turner Trofholz (Schuyler, NE) scored 20 or more points for the 10th time this season.
The South Dakota women's basketball team (10-3) had its seven-game winning streak stopped Dec. 28 with a 61-59 loss to the Winona State Warriors (7-4) in the first game of the Sioux Valley Clinic Classic.
Despite each team placing four players in double figures, USD was unable to keep up with Winona State's 51.1 percent field goal shooting (24-of-47) and struggled from behind the three-point arc making 31.8 percent (7-of-22).
For the game, USD shot 44.6 percent (25-of-56) from the field and made 2-of-4 (50 percent) at the foul line, but was outrebounded, 31-29.
