Vermillion debate and speech students honored
On Jan. 13-14, Vermillion High School speech and debate students participated in the Silver Bowl Tournament hosted by Sioux Falls Lincoln High School. Schools from around the region participated, and VHS students brought trophies home.

Senior Molly Green reached honor finals in the category of domestic extemporaneous speech.

Senior Raleigh Tiahrt and junior Brody Stone won second place in inexperienced public forum.

The third place award in Novice A policy debate went to sophomores Amanda Barton and Micaela Telleria. Barton also received the top speaker award in this category.

The VHS speech and debate team will be traveling to Watertown Jan. 20-21 for the Speech Fiesta Tournament. VHS will also hold a Central Forensics Conference (a small, one-day tournament) Feb. 4. Good luck goes out to these students as they finish out the season.

Their final competition, the state tournament, will be held at Aberdeen Central High School March 4-5.
