Boots helps Tanagers beat BHS Watchdogs
The Vermillion Tanagers downed the Beresford Watchdogs 51-46 in boys' basketball Jan. 31 at home.

Jordan Boots scored 25 points. He shot 5 of 10 from 3-point range, and was 4-4 in free throw shooting.

The score was 8-all after the first quarter, the Tanagers led 23-17 at halftime, and then led 38-33 after the third quarter.

Vermillion held onto the win from the free throw line, making 11 of 19 charity tosses to 3 of 5 for Beresford.

"We struggled a bit both offensively and defensively tonight," said Vermillion coach Jason Huska. "We were just too hesitant on offense and defensively we got caught out of position. However, I thought our kids did a good job hanging in there and getting the win."

Vermillion improved its record to 6-5, while Beresford dropped to 7-5.

Vermillion made 6 of 18 three-point attempts. The Tanagers connected on 17 of 51 field goals, while Beresford was 18 of 46 from the field. Beresford connected on 7 of 21 three-point tries.
