Library Activities Calendar
Celebrate Valentine's Day at the Vermillion Public Library. Create special craft projects and enjoy valentine treats on Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. The Vermillion Public Library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20 in honor of Presidents' Day. Materials may be returned to the book and A/V drops located on the south side of the library building. The library will reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Feb. 21.
The February meeting of the Vermillion Public Library Book Club is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the South Dakota Room of the library. In honor of National African American History Month, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, is this month's selection. This award-winning book portrays an African-American family in a Chicago ghetto in the mid-1950s, and explores themes of family conflict, poverty, and racism. Copies are available at the circulation desk.
You are invited to view the movie version of A Raisin in the Sun on Sunday, Feb. 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. Popcorn will be provided. This activity in scheduled for adults and young adults ages 12 to 18 years old.
Young adult activities also include celebrating Mardi Gras. Join the party on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the library. The February meeting of CCSB will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. to discuss plans for the Saint Patrick's Day activity.
The first time event of Scrabble Scrimmage for adults and young adults will be held on Saturday, March 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room. Challenge others to a Scrabble match that is designed to improve your word knowledge. Extra Scrabble games are welcome.
