Dakota Hospital Association & Foundation hires consultant
The Board of Directors of the Dakota Hospital Association & Foundation (DHA&F) is pleased to announce that Gene C. Lunn will lead and coordinate the development of DHA&F's foundation.

Dakota Hospital Association & Foundation is committed to continuing the long tradition and mission of improving the health of the individuals and communities in this area. Over DHA&F's 70-plus year history in Vermillion, healthcare delivery has changed substantially requiring a continued commitment to new technologies and facilities.

"As Dakota Hospital Association & Foundation continues its ?Dedication to the Work of Healing,' building on established financial base within the foundation will position DHA&F to explore and evaluate new opportunities," said Hazen Bye, president of Dakota Hospital Association & Foundation.

Prior to Lunn's appointment, DHA&F foundation development has been comprised of volunteer efforts by typically busy working individuals with limited time and expertise to devote to formalizing its fund-raising efforts. In discussing the need for foundation consultant services, Bye said "Gene will provide the Foundation with proven leadership both as an active member of the Dakota Hospital Association and as a visible community participant. Gene's skill and talents will enable the Foundation to progress to the next level supporting new and innovative programs and the continued success of essential health services."

DHA&F currently provides seed money for the development of new health programs and unique services, community health programs and scholarships for health profession students, patient care, equipment and other services for those faced with financial hardship, and capital for board approved building and equipment projects.

In commenting on this recent endeavor, Lunn said, "My primary function will be to clearly demonstrate and communicate the personal health benefit and economic impact the greater Vermillion area receives by having a modern, comprehensive health care facility available. In other words, the Foundation builds the case which will spur continued and enhanced philanthropy enabling DHA&F to ensure continued access to quality healthcare."

DHA&F in partnership with Sioux Valley Hospitals & Health System operate a comprehensive community medical center providing primary and specialty care services for the whole family.
