The Sioux Trails Girl Scout Council will host its annual Supermarket Saturday at local grocery stores on Feb. 11.
Supermarket Saturday is a great way for community members to provide non-perishable food items and toiletry products to area food banks simply by going grocery shopping.
Vermillion troops will be on hand at Hy-Vee and Jones' Food Store in Vermillion from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Girl Scouts will meet and greet customers at the grocery stores and distribute flyers indicating the purpose of Supermarket Saturday. Patrons will be asked to purchase a nonperishable item or toiletry item during their shopping. Girl Scouts will then collect the donations from shoppers as they exit. The proceeds will go to the Vermillion Food Pantry.
This food drive has been a huge success in past years as thousands of items have been donated and collected during Supermarket Saturday for area food banks. Please join us in our effort to help those who utilize area food banks.
