Meagan O’Connor serves as page

Meagan O'Connor, a Vermillion High School senior, spent two weeks working with lawmakers during the 2006 South Dakota Legislature.

O'Connor, the daughter of Larry and Rennae O'Connor of Vermillion, worked as a legislative page. She was sponsored by Sen. B.J. Nesselhuf, D-Vermillion. Her page term ended Jan. 20.

Pages assist lawmakers by running errands, answering telephones, delivering messages, and distributing legislative bills and journals.

O'Connor enjoyed her page experience.

She said she learned about how state government works and what happens behind the scenes. She particularly enjoyed committee meetings.

At Vermillion High School, O'Connor is involved in band, choir and show choir. She is also a wrestling statistician.

After graduation, O'Connor plans to attend Black Hills State University and study early childhood special education.
