President James W. Abbott presented the award to Harden during a reception Feb. 3 with friends and co-workers.
Harden, who lives in Vermillion with her husband Matthew, a music professor at USD, has worked for USD for four and a half years. She was nominated for the honor by co-workers in the Student Activities Center.
"In a word, Shellie is extraordinary," said Margie Rostyne, coordinator of co-curri-cular programs, community service and multicultural issues at the Coyote Student Center. "Shellie maintains a friendly and supportive demeanor with students and staff alike. Her warm personality helps to create a work environment that is inviting, fun, productive, and most of all, worth coming back to."
"I would like to thank the Student Activity Center staff for nominating me. I feel very honored," said Harden, during the employee of the month celebration. "We get a lot of students in our office and I thoroughly enjoy helping them."
Harden and her husband have three children, one of whom is a student at USD.
