The Vermillion freshmen team broke into the victory column for the first time this season and is now 1-6. The West Central season mark fell to 4-5.
Kyle Nemec played very well on both ends of the court, scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds.

The Tanagers jumped ahead 9-6 after the opening period, led 16-12 at halftime, and then held a lead of 29-28 going into the final period.
The contest was well-played, with each team committing only 9 turnovers.
"Our team really played well defensively," said Vermillion freshmen coach Eric VanLacken.
Vermillion freshmen hit 1 of 3 three-pointers and sank 9 of 21 from the line. The Tanagers sank 14 of 34 field goals, while West Central was 13 of 36 from the field. West Central made 3 of 6 three-point attempts and connected on 6 of 6 from the line.
