Alicia Brown scored 19 points and made five steals, and Annie Roche contributed with 18 points and eight assists.
The Tanagers led 17-15 after the first quarter, led 41-20 after the second period, and then led 52-26 after the third period.
"We are always happy to go on the road and come home with a win," said VHS coach Jamie Parish. "Pressuring the ball was a goal of ours for tonight's game and our kids did a pretty nice job with that. We caused several turnovers that lead to some easy offense for us tonight. In the second and third quarters, our kids played very well defensively, holding Canton to 11 total points in those two periods."
VHS improved its record to 8-6, while Canton dropped to 2-12.
VHS hit 6 of 15 three-point tries and hit 13 of 21 from the line. The Tanagers made 21 of 51 from the field, while Canton was 15 of 39 from the field. Canton sank 5 of 14 three-pointers and hit 9 of 13 from the line.
A number of excellent individual efforts highlighted the win.
"Annie Roche played a great game for us doing a little bit of everything again, defending, rebounding, scoring and dishing out some assists," coach Parish said. "Alicia Brown really harassed their ball handlers and was big part of our pressure defense. Chelsea Guaer shot the ball well and is improving defensively. Michelle Olson did a great job defensively getting her hands on quite a few passes that lead to some steals for our girls. The season is winding down; we are improving bit by bit. We hope to have everyone playing as a solid unit within the next week so that we can start preparing for our district tournament."
