"Our kids played very hard against a very good Madison team," said Vermillion coach Jason Huska. "We had some chances but when facing a good opponent you must capitalize on those opportunities. We came close, which is disappointing, but I'm proud of our effort."
The Tanagers committed only 7 turnovers, but still picked up the loss.

The Tanagers tried to stay in the game from three-point range, hitting 7 of 14 from long distance, but it wasn't enough.
Madison jumped in front 14-11 after the first quarter, and held an edge of 19-17 in the second quarter. Vermillion had an advantage of 18-14 in the third period to shave the deficit to only 47-46 going into the final period.
The loss dropped Vermillion to a record of 6-6, while Madison improved to 13-1.
Vermillion made 9 of 17 from the line. The Tanagers sank 21 of 50 from the field, while Madison was 23 of 46 from the field. The Bulldogs hit 9 of 13 free throw tries.
