USD administration approves return of Strollers organization
University of South Dakota President Jim Abbott, along with Assistant Vice President of Student Services Dr. Terisa Remelius, have granted approval to the Strollers organization to host the 83rd annual Strollers Show on Feb. 24-25 on campus at USD in Slagle Auditorium.

With guidance and supportfrom Genevieve Evans-Taylor, interim director of the Coyote Student Center and Greek Life advisor, as well as other campus and alumni advisors, the Strollers leadership spent the fall semester restructuring their organization and revamping the show. Evans-Taylor noted the positive changes that led to the return of Strollers.

"I am very pleased with the progress of this organization and am excited for the upcoming show. It is great to see the organization promoting their original purpose and values. I truly believe they will once again become an exceptional organization with talented members who can unify our Greek community and bring back alumni and community members,"Evans-Taylor said.

Previous shows were inappropriate for children to attend, but the organization hascommitted to aPG-13 rating for the 2006 show. Remelius praised the hard work and dedication members of the Strollers organization have put into the restructuring effort.

"The men of this organization have worked hard to incorporate reasonable standards into the content and organization of this show. I was excited to see how willing the group was to work within the expectations of The U to modify their behaviors and make good decisions ? both with their show and their recruitment processes," Remelius said.

Tom Gulbranson, their alumni advisor also expressed his support for the upcoming show.

"The Strollers have been a long standing tradition at The U for 83 years. We are here to provide entertainment to the campus community as well as prospective students. It's been my pleasure to belong to a group that has recommitted itself to bringing this tradition back to its roots to make sure we are fulfilling our missionof providing entertainment, philanthropy and an avenue of recruitment to The U," Gulbranson said.

Apre-show Strollers alum-ni reception is being planned in conjunction with the USD Foundationfor the Feb. 25 show.

Proceeds raised from this year's show will benefit local charities and the Slagle renovation campaign.
