Vermillion High School students are honored

Johney Tsai and Anna Geis received the Vermillion High School Students of the Month awards for January. They will receive $100 scholarships from First Bank & Trust-Vermillion for their efforts.

Tsai's faculty endorsement related that "he is an outstanding student. He works hard and is very willing to help others." He plans to attend South Dakota State University for a career in pharmacy.

His high school activities have included band, Natural Helpers, student council, oral interp, science club and National Honor Society. He was elected as the state treasurer of Boys State. His parents are Jean and Jimmy Tsai.

Geis has been involved in an abundance of activities and has had numerous honors while at VHS. Among those are show choir, band, mentor, National Honor Society, and drama club. She was selected as the outstanding performer at the State One-Act Play competition. Her parents are Ron and Cindy Geis.

"Anna is an absolute pleasure to have in class. She is thoughtful, mature, and intelligent, and she is always willing to help others with proofreading or studying," according to her endorsement. Geis plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to study wildlife management.
