Vermillion JV downed by West Central
The Vermillion Tanagers were downed by the West Central Trojans 58-31 in boys' basketball Jan. 27 at Hartford as the Tanagers shot only 25 percent from the field.

"We need to start to learn from our mistakes and try to turn our season around," said Vermillion JV coach Jon Ruevers.

The Tanagers fell behind 8-5 at the end of the first period, trailed 25-15 at halftime, and then trailed 39-24 going into the fourth quarter.

The loss dropped Vermillion JV to a record of 3-5, while West Central improved to 6-2.

Vermillion JV hit 0 of 4 three-pointers and hit 11 of 31 free throw attempts. The Tanagers connected on 10 of 40 field goals, while West Central was 20 of 51 from the field. West Central hit 1 of 3 three-point tries and made 17 of 34 from the line.
