Vermillion JV unable to collar the Watchdogs
The Vermillion JV Tanagers were downed by the Beresford Watchdogs 26-19 in girls' basketball Jan. 31 at Vermillion in a matchup that was close throughout.

"Turnovers are our downfall," said VHS coach Lenni Billberg. "Until we learn how to protect the ball against any defense, we can't expect much success."

The Tanagers jumped in front 6-4 after the first quarter, trailed 13-8 at halftime, and then trailed 17-12 going into the fourth quarter.

The loss dropped VHS to a record of 0-10, while Beresford improved to 7-3.

VHS hit 1 of 3 three-pointers and hit 4 of 6 free throw attempts. The Tanagers made 7 of 26 field goals, while Beresford was 9 of 36 from the field. Beresford connected on 0 of 0 three-point tries and sank 8 of 14 from the line.
