VHS loses lead to Sioux City North
The Vermillion Tanagers lost a second-half lead and were defeated by the North Stars of Sioux City North 70-63 in boys' basketball Feb. 20 at Sioux City North. Vermillion had led by one at halftime.

Jordan Boots scored 29 points, and 7 of 14 from 3-point range. The Tanagers led 17-15 after the opening period, led 29-28 at halftime, and then trailed 52-48 after the third quarter. Vermillion lost the game from the free throw line, making 5 of 12 charity tosses compared with 18 of 27 for Sioux City North. Both teams were sharp from three-point range, with the Tanagers 8 of 14 and the North Stars 4 of 6.

"I thought our kids did a nice job against an aggressive team," said Vermillion coach Jason Huska. "They took us out of our offense at times. We just fouled too much as they went 18-28 from the line. I'm proud of our effort."

The loss dropped Vermillion to a record of 7-8, while Sioux City North improved to 16-3.

The Tanagers connected on 25 of 48 from the field, while Sioux City North was 24 of 46 from the field.
