Watchdogs outscore Vermillion Tanagers
The Vermillion Tanagers were defeated by the Beresford Watchdogs 18-13 in girls' basketball Jan. 31 at home as the Tanagers shot only 17 percent from the field.

Becca Hawley worked hard the entire game showing great hustle and determination.

The Tanagers fell behind 4-0 at the end of the first period, trailed 8-5 after the second period, and then trailed 13-10 after the third quarter.

"Angie Christensen played well, especially on defense," said Vermillion freshmen Coach Leah Bakke.

Vermillion saw its record fall to 1-6, while Beresford upped its mark to 4-3.

The Vermillion freshmen sank 5 of 14 from the line. The Tanagers sank 4 of 24 from the field, while Beresford was 8 of 26 from the field. The Watchdogs connected on 2 of 5 free throw tries.
