Accident victim is hospitalized

A rural Vermillion woman was hospitalized after she missed a curve while driving her van on Timber Road west of the city Wednesday.

The eastbound vehicle left the road and rolled, said Clay County Sheriff Andy Howe.

Marvalla Bensen, 76, was the only occupant in the van, he said. Local law enforcement and ambulance personnel responded.

She was later taken by air ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital.
