  • 2006 Great Strides – Make a commitment to exercise to improve your health! Recruit a team of two or four or participate as an individual. Introducing a new family category.   • Story Theatre – University Theatre presents "Story Theatre," stories from the Brothers Grimm and Aesop's Fables adapted to the stage by Paul Sills. Join us for an evening of imaginative and unpretentious delight! Story Theatre runs from March 22 through March 25 at 8 p.m., and on March 26 at 2 p.m. at the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, youth, and non-USD students, and $3 for USD students with an ID. There is limited seating, so please make your reservations today by calling 677-5400.
  • SESDAC Benefit Auction – Join SESDAC at Buffalo Run Winery on Saturday, March 25 for a benefit auction. The gala begins with hors d'oeuvres at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., silent auction closes at 8 p.m., and live auction at 8:30 p.m.

  • USD's Opera Workshop ensemble presents George Bizet's Doctor Miracle, a one-act comic operetta sung in an English adaptation by Donald Pippin. Come watch the show on Saturday, March 25 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the Colton Recital Hall. This event is open to the public and free of charge.   • Book Club Movie – Join the Vermillion Public Library on Sunday, March 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. for the Book Club Movie. For more information call 677-7060.
  • Alpha Xi Delta to sponsor philanthropy service event for children � The women of Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity will host a Choose Children Philanthropy Service event starting at 5 p.m., Thursday March 30, to support the South Dakota American Lung Association. The Watchful Eye Foundation from Sioux City, IA, will also be there to talk to children about safety. Special programs for children under the age of four will run from 5 to 6 p.m. The safety program for children over five will begin at 6 p.m. During the event, Alpha Xi Delta members will serve a spaghetti dinner at the Vermillion Armory from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 dollars for children, and $4 with a student ID.
  • Brown Bag Lunch – The National Music Museum presents music from Degas String Quartet and the Euclid String Quartet. They will be performing new work by a young American composer born in Puerto Rico in 1973. Come listen to the show at the National Music Museum on Friday, March 31 starting at 12:05 p.m. This program is free and open to the public.
  • 4-H Rabbit Judging Clinic & Dress A Rabbit Contest – Big Friend Little Friend would like to invite the public to the 4-H Rabbit Judging Clinic & Dress A Rabbit Contest on Saturday, April 1 at 29974 University Road, Beresford.   • Merchant Meeting – The next merchant meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 5 starting at 6 p.m. at the VCDC office. Your input is appreciated! We hope to see you there!
  • Blood Drive – Donate to save lives on Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6. The University of South Dakota is hosting a campus wide blood drive at the Coyote Student Center. The Community Blood Bank of Sioux Falls will be available for donations. Your donation saves lives! Call 624-2611 for more information.
  • Golden Easter Egg Promotion – Vermillion's 6th Annual Golden Easter Egg Hunt begins Thursday, April 6! The "Golden Egg" is hidden somewhere within the city limits of Vermillion. Participants can only get the daily clues by going to the participating businesses! No phone calls please! The lucky winner who locates the egg will be awarded $250 in Vermillion Bucks and a basket of merchandise! Merchants who would like to participate in this promotion can call the Vermillion Chamber of Commerce & Development Company for more details on this promotion at 605-624-5571.
  • Meet the School Board Candidates – Join us on Saturday, March 25 at 10 a.m. in the William J. Radigan Fire Hall to meet the candidates for the Vermillion School Board. Mark Bottolfson, Tom Craig, and David Stammer are vying for two positions on the school board. The election is Tuesday, April 11. The two candidates with the most votes will begin their terms this summer.
