Kathy Crowley, kindergarten teacher at St. Agnes School, was recently awarded the 2006 Professional Service Award by the South Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children.
The award celebrates individuals who work with young children and have made significant contributions to the field of early childhood education.
Crowley has served the early childhood community for over 25 years. She was a childcare provider in her home, before serving as a teaching assistant, after-school-care director, preschool teacher, and kindergarten teacher. She has been a workshop presenter at state and regional conferences, serves as an officer on local and state boards, and currently serves as state vice president for SDAEYC. Crowley was on the panel to establish the SD Early Learning Guidelines and is in the process of co-authoring a book.
On Thursday, March 23, at 7 p.m. in the St. Agnes School kindergarten classroom, Crowley will meet with parents of next year's kindergarten class to share information on what to expect in kindergarten. On Friday, March 24, the children will attend a round-up from 1 to 3 p.m. to meet their new classmates. For further information, please call the school at 624-4144.
