Vermillion High School freshman clarinet players Alicia Enterman and Jiwen Li have been accepted to the 2006 South Dakota High School All-State Band. This year's festival will be held at the Johnson Fine Arts Center on the Northern State University campus in Aberdeen, March 23 through March 25.
Students are selected to the band after performing a live audition. The format for the All-State Band Festival is made of two equal bands, named Lewis Band and Clark Band, of about 80 members each. Conductors for the bands are Lowell E. Graham and William Malambri.
While in Aberdeen, Alicia and Jiwen will take part in rehearsing with the Lewis Band, attending a concert performed by the South Dakota Intercollegiate Band and performing in the Grand Concert on Saturday night. Tickets for each All-State concert will be sold at the Johnson Fine Arts Center, $8 for adults and $5 for students approximately two hours prior to each concert.
Concert times are 4 p.m., Clark Band and 8 p.m., Lewis Band. For more information, contact Ken Pickering at the SDHSAA offices in Pierre.
