North Stars down Tanager JV
The Vermillion Tanagers fell short in a second-half comeback and lost to the Sioux City North Stars 38-34 in boys' basketball Feb. 20 at Sioux City North.

The Vermillion JV had trailed by 13 at halftime.

"We played very well in the second half," said Vermillion JV coach Jon Ruevers. "If we had that intensity and toughness in the first half, we would not have had to play back from being down 10 points."

Sioux City North jumped in front 12-5 after the first quarter, and held an edge of 12-6 in the second quarter. Vermillion JV had an advantage of 14-8 in the third period to shave the deficit to only 32-25 going into the final period.

The loss dropped Vermillion JV to a record of 6-10, while Sioux City North improved to 9-2.

Vermillion hit 2 of 6 three-pointers and connected on 8 of 11 from the line. The Tanagers hit 12 of 37 field goal attempts, while Sioux City North was 15 of 38 from the field. Sioux City North made 2 of 5 three-pointers and connected on 6 of 13 free throw attempts.
