What does it take to be a Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week? It's not just about grades or athletic ability. It takes a well-rounded individual that excels in the classroom and the community.
"Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week" has been celebrating the achievements of high school seniors since 2002. Recipients are highly motivated high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community. This program was founded on the four pillars of Touchstone Energy: Integrity, Accountability, Innovation and a Commitment to Community.
Strom represents those pillars by her work in school, community and a 3.99 GPA. She also finds time to be very active in band, chorus, All-State Choir and FFA. In her spare time after school Strom participates in cross country and track, where she has proven to be a valuable and consistent leader.
Strom intends to continue competing at South Dakota State University. While some will take the summer off, Strom becomes an enthusiastic member of her 4-H Club and horse riding.
Strom was nominated for this award by Michael Embrock, guidance counselor for Beresford High School.
"Joni is an all around successful student," he said. "She is an excellent student and gets heavily involved in co-curricular activities as well as community activities. Joni has a positive attitude and demonstrates a great deal of respect for her school and community."
