The South Dakota Women's Tennis Team (6-6) concluded its spring break trip by dropping a hard-fought 5-4 decision to Southwestern University on Friday, March 10 at Georgetown, TX.
The Coyotes, which dropped its second straight match, received wins at singles from Michelle Hogan of Rapid City, Rachel Kludt of Huron, and Suzy Puetz of Sioux Falls. The doubles tandem of Hogan and Kelli Galbraith of Rapid City, improved to 9-3 on the season with an 8-2 win.
With her win at No. 4 singles, Hogan improved to 11-1 on the season with a straight set (6-1, 6-3) win over Southwestern's Amy Somerford. USD's Kludt is now 8-4 on the season after defeating Sarah Salinas (6-0, 6-1). At No. 6 singles, Suzy Puetz recorded a straight set win (6-0, 6-2) win over Lauren Arrowwood of Southwestern and improved her overall record to 9-3.
The Coyotes won six of nine matches during the spring break trip to even its overall mark at 6-6 on the season. The Coyotes will return to action on March 25 when USD plays a pair of matches in North Dakota. First, USD will face Minnesota-Moorhead at 9 a.m. in Fargo, ND, and will play North Dakota in Grand Forks at 3 p.m.
