USD eighth in team standings in swimming, diving championship
The South Dakota Women's Team, led by the All-American diving performance of Jill Smolczyk, sits in eighth-place in team points with 140 after the third day (31 events) of competition concluded March 10 at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Indiana.

The South Dakota men's team sits in 26th place with 6.5 points.

Smolczyk, a sophomore from Omaha, NE, picked up her second-career All-American honor by placing seventh in the 1-meter diving competition with 334.80 points.

USD's Megan Gordon, a sophomore from Grand Rapids, MN, was ninth in the 100-yard backstroke with a clocking of 57.96. Gordon broke her own school record of 58.03 with the honorable mention All-American performance.

The 800-yard freestyle relay squad finished 12th with a time of 7:56.01, which earned the squad honorable mention All-American honors. The team included Brianna Wass, a senior from Douglas, WY; Mary Klima, a freshman from Leavenworth, KS; Erin Wagoner, a freshman from Newcastle, WY; and Stacy Bjorlie, a freshman from Austin, MN.
