The South Dakota softball team (8-12) picked up a split on the final day of the DakotaDome Invitational, March 19, by defeating Jamestown (10-6), 3-2, and falling to Morningside (12-4), 4-1.
Against Jamestown, USD rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Jimmies by scoring two runs in the top of the third inning to garner the win.
In the second game, Morningside snapped USD's four-game winning streak as the Mustangs held the Coyotes scoreless until the seventh inning. However, by then it was too little too late.
Tagney Jones (4-4) allowed four runs (three earned) in three and a third innings to suffer her fourth loss of the season. Jones also struck out one batter and walked another. Yowell came in to relieve Jones and allowed just two hits in three and two-thirds innings.
