USD's golf team finishes third at St. George invite
The South Dakota women's golf team finished third by carding a 342-339-681 at the St. George Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State, in St. George, UT.

The Coyotes finished behind NCAA Division I Bowling Green (329-316-645) and Grand Valley State (334-318-652) at the tournament that wrapped up on March 9.

Leading the way for USD was junior Karrie Plate (Vermillion), who finished tied for 14th after firing an 86-83-169. Fellow junior Amanda Young (Mitchell) was tied for 16th with an 82-88-170.


Also scoring for the Coyotes were sophomore Amber Luitjens (Aberdeen) with an 89-82-171 (19th) and sophomore Brooke Bonte (Beresford) who shot an 86-87-173 to finish 20th. Sophomore Kristi Tighe (Homer, NE) placed 25th with a 95-81-176.

Earning medalist honors were Ashley Childers of Brigham Young and Grand Valley State's Melissa Riegle, who each shot a nine over par 155.
