Vermillion JV falls to Canton C-Hawks

The Vermillion Tanagers were defeated by the Canton C-Hawks 45-40 in boys' basketball Feb. 24 at Canton.

"We got behind in the first half and could not quite dig ourselves out of that hole," said Vermillion JV coach Jon Ruevers.

Vermillion lost the game from three-point range, making 1 of 5 from long range compared with 5 of 12 for Canton. The contest was well-played, with each team committing only 8 turnovers.

The Tanagers fell behind 9-4 after the opening period, trailed 17-10 after the second period, and then trailed 32-25 after the third quarter.

The loss dropped Vermillion to a record of 6-11, while Canton improved to 8-11.

Vermillion connected on 9 of 15 from the line. The Tanagers made 15 of 36 field goals, while Canton was 18 of 42 from the field. The C-Hawks connected on 4 of 4 free throw tries.
