The South Dakota softball team (15-26, 2-6 NCC) fell to in-state rival Augustana (19-17, 6-2 NCC) April 18 by scores of 1-0 and 8-2 in a conference double-header at the USD Softball Complex in Vermillion.

Game 1 Augustana 1,

Augustana scored the only run of the contest with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to hand USD its third loss of the season to the Vikings, 1-0.

In the bottom of the seventh, Krauth struck out all three Coyotes to improve to 13-2 on the season. For the game, Krauth allowed four hits, struck out five batters and walked two.

USD had its chances to score, however, senior Kerri Starcevich (Monroe, IA), who was 2-for-2 in the game, was thrown out at home on an infield hit and the Coyotes left the bases loaded in bottom of the third inning.
