Jon Crane will visit Vermillion April 22
Famed South Dakota artist Jon Crane will be a special visitor to Tigert Art Gallery in Vermillion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22.

A free signed 5×7 print will be offered to the first 50 customers, and framing will be reduced 30 percent on Crane's limited editions.

A drawing will be held for a $100 gift certificate at the gallery, and Crane will personalize his artwork.

Original pieces of his art will be offered for sale. Refreshments will be served.

Finely detailed rural landscapes are a natural expression of the personality of Crane, a watercolor artist.

He loves being outdoors, and searches constantly for special panoramas that he can translate onto paper.

Through the medium of transparent watercolor, Crane is able to use its delicate nature to capture the fine details of reality that are important to him.

His oversized nostalgic landscapes of rural America have become his trademark.

Born in New Jersey in 1948, Crane traveled west to attend college at the University of Northern Colorado, where he earned a B.A. in fine arts in 1971. He spent the next five years as an Air Force pilot before launching his art career in Rapid City.

He now lives with his wife, Gail, along a secluded trout stream in the Black Hills.
