Junior Achievement kicks off fund raising
Junior Achievement of Vermillion has begun its annual fund-raising drive.

JA hopes to reach a goal of $6,900 raised in the next three months.

The 2006-07 Vermillion Campaign for Kids is chaired by Dr. Cindy Johnson Brown from Eye Care Eye Wear.

Junior Achievement of Vermillion thanks over 40 businesses and individuals who donate to the annual fund drive and provide Junior Achievement for over 200 Vermillion students.

"The economic future of South Dakota businesses is more dependent than ever on the education of young people," said Dr. Al Kurtenbach, board chair of Junior Achievement of South Dakota and co-founder of Daktronics, Inc.

"Consumer debt and personal bankruptcies have more than doubled in the past 10 years," said Kristie Fiegen, president of Junior Achievement of South Dakota. "We need to make the economics of life relevant for our students with business and community role models in the classroom."

Junior Achievement of South Dakota, Inc. has adopted Vision 2012, a strategic plan which has a goal to inspire over 40,000 South Dakota students to understand business and economics by 2012. JA provides volunteers and programs to help South Dakota students realize school is relevant to their future, and a good education is key to success as an employer, employee, and consumer.

Junior Achievement is funded by local businesses.
