Tanager girls, coach receive honors
Listed is the Class A region 4A team. The following awards are voted on by the eight head coaches in region 4A, which includes District 8A (Vermillion, EPJ, Alcester, Dakota Valley) and district 7A (Lennox, Beresford, Canton, Irene-Wakonda).

This is Annie Roche's second time on the all region team and Alicia Brown's first.

This is Coach Parish's second post season honor in as many years. Last year Coach Parish was recognized by the SDBBCA as the Region 6 Coach of the Year, which included 24 schools in Southeast South Dakota in all three classes.

All Region 4A Team

First Team Vermillion, Annie Roche (unanimous MVP); Beresford, Amy Jensen; Lennox, Jerika Ihnen; Vermillion, Alicia Brown; Lennox, Stephanie Harrington.

Coach of the Year Jamie Parish, Vermillion.

Other post season awards are as follows:

First team all Big 8 conference Annie Roche, Michelle Olson, Alicia Brown; Honorable mention Chelsea Gauer.

Class A All-Tournament team Annie Roche, Alicia Brown.

Academic All-State Michelle Olson.

Roche was named to the SD Class A All-State team. She was named to the third team becoming only the 10th girl in Tanager Basketball history to be named to the All-State team.

"Annie Roche is a kid that has changed our team and our entire program for the better from top to bottom. She is one of the hardest workers and most positive players that I have ever been around. She does all of our ball handling for us and rarely turns the ball over. She can change the course of a game with her defensive pressure on the best perimeter player on the opposing team," Parish said. "Yet she still has enough energy and court savvy to lead us in scoring and dish out 4.5 assists a night. We preach to our players to be multi-dimensional and Annie is a perfect example of that. She may not be the highest individual scorer or individual assist person in the state, but she is a better assist person than the top scorers and a better scorer than the top assist people. In my opinion, she is one of the best offensive players in the state, a true triple threat that can hurt you by shooting, driving, and distributing."
