Tanager track teams have mixed results at Lennox
The Tanager track and field teams met a tough field of seven other teams April 13 in the Lennox Invitational.

Participants were Canton, Harrisburg, Howard, Lennox, Madison, Tri Valley, Vermillion and West Central.

The Tanager girls won their division with 113 points; Madison (102) and West Central (88) placed second and third.


Individual Tanager results were: Krista Froke, the only field events scorer, placed second in the high jump; Nicole Orr won the 100M hurdles in 16.2 seconds, and the 300M hurdles in 47.8 (faster state qualifying time); Froke came in fourth.

The 100M dash was won by Alicia Brown with a time of 12.5 seconds. She also won the 200M dash (25.4 faster state qualifier), Alexa Walker and Karissa Martin were fifth and sixth. Sarah Day and Anna Moos placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 400M dash. Emily Renner was third in the 1600M run with time of 5:49.8.

The 4x100M relay team (Walker, Martin, Hannah Korcuska and Day) placed second with time of 54.6. The foursome of Orr, Annie Roche, Brittney Babb, and Brown won the 4x200M in 1:49.3 (faster Q time).

The 4x400M was won in 4:14.8 by Tanagers Orr, Babb, Roche, and Brown). The sprint medley had the Vermillion team coming in first in 4:51.4 (Walker, Korcuska, Roche, and Renner)

The Tanager boys' team didn't fare too well as they tied for sixth among the eight teams from South Dakota.

However, there were some bright spots. Gregg Anderson placed sixth in the 100M dash. Ryan Powell was second in the 400M dash. Broc Gauer placed third in the 800M run. Andrew Pier placed third in the long jump; and Jeff Donnelly was sixth in the high jump.

The 4x100M relay team finished in fifth (Mike Oberle, Jerrod Freidel, Donnelly, and Anderson). The 4x200M relay team (Pier, Freidel, Powell, and Gauer) placed second, and the 4x400M relay team (Pier, Freidel, Gauer and Powell) placed third. The sprint medley relay team claimed first place (Anderson, Freidel, Donnelly, and Casey Carlson) in 3:59.4.
