Thune announces grant for Vermillion

Vermillion has been awarded $125,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation to construct a fuel farm and install weather reporting equipment at Harold Davidson Field.

"This is great news for Vermillion," said Sen. John Thune, who announced the grant.�"This partnership between South Dakota and the federal government is the type of relationship that benefits everyone.�This grant from the Federal Aviation Administration will assist Vermillion airport officials make much-needed safety improvements for those using the airport."

The weather reporting equipment is vital to providing weather information for pilots using the airport. The fueling system will serve current needs and provide additional revenue for the airport.
