The South Dakota men's golf team shot a 315 and finished seventh out of 10 teams at the Maverick Invitational hosted by Minnesota State University at the 6,172-yard par-71 Mankato Golf Course April 11.
Sophomore Jared Degan (Parkston) shot a five-over-par 76 to lead the Coyotes as he finished tied for ninth-place. Fellow sophomore Bryan Cahill (Huron) finished a stroke behind Degan with a 77 to tie for 15th place.
Also contributing to the team score for the Coyotes were sophomore Ryan Bak (Beresford) with an 80 (t-35th), freshman Brett Bennett (Sioux Falls) with an 82 (t-43) and freshman Matt Rantaapa (Lead) with an 86 (t-57).
Minnesota State, Winona State and Upper Iowa all tied for the team title with a 304, while Augustana's Kenny Hartzell shot a two-over-par 73 to earn medalist honors.
