USD softball drops three to start UNO tournament
The South Dakota women's softball team (12-17, 0-2 NCC) dropped three games in its first day of play at the Nebraska-Omaha Invitational at Seymour Smith Park in Omaha, NE, April 1.

The Coyotes fell to Southwest Minnesota State, 1-0, Truman State, 9-1, and Wayne State (NE), 4-3.

SMSU 1, USD 0

Senior Sarah Wrage (Cherokee, IA) recorded half of the Coyotes' hits, as she went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and a triple.

Freshman Tagney Jones (Lincoln, NE) dropped her season record to 5-6 as she allowed just two hits and one earned run in seven innings. Jones struck out five batters and walked one.

Game 2 stats

Truman State 9, USD 1

Steph Bergman (Ithaca, NE) finished with two hits to lead USD.

USD senior Alisha Yowell (Omaha, NE) suffered the loss by allowing six earned runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. She struck out three batters and walked one. Jones pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits, while striking out none and walking one batter.

Game 3 stats � Wayne State 4, USD 3

Each team recorded seven hits and two errors.

Amber Terry (Fremont, NE) suffered the loss as she pitched a complete game and allowed four runs (one earned) and seven hits. She struck out three batters and walked one.
