Vermillion Literary Project to unveil 2006 magazine
The Vermillion Literary Project (VLP) will unveil the 2006 VLP literary magazine at a reception and reading on Thursday, April 27, at 7 p.m., at the Coffee Shop Gallery, 24 W. Main Street, downtown Vermillion.

The evening will begin with featured readings from local authors published in the 2006 magazine. Immediately after the authors' reading will be a poetry slam, a competition for poets. Prizes will be awarded to winning poets and slam poets should bring at least three poems if they plan to participate.

As always, the VLP reading and slam is free and open to the general public. Copies of the magazine will be available for sale throughout the evening.


The VLP magazine, published annually for over 20 years, features poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction and artwork by South Dakota writers and artists, as well as writers and artists from around the world. Some of the local writers and artists published in the 2006 VLP magazine include Barb Baker, John Banasiak, Phllip Block, Ken Carstens, Philip DePaula, Patricia DiMond, Amanda Gebhart, Vanessa Gorden, Jami Guthrie, Nathan Hitchcock, Steven D. Howe, Sean Johnston, Sandra Kern, VerLynn Kneifl, D. T. Kofoed, Paula Kostel, Lynda Letona, Rosemary Moeller, John Mullin, Joe Night, Joseph Raiche, Marcella Remund, S. K. Robertson, Amanda Sides and Suzanne Sunshower.
