The performances are celebration of grace, beauty and excitement with over 370 boys and girls ages three through college. First-year students through dancers at the professional level will perform. There will be a special dedication to this year's seniors and their journey from young dancers to the beautiful performers they have become.
Senior dancers who will be spotlighted are: Tessa Bauer, Abiane Campbell, Erin Dykes, MaryChar Erickson, Brennan Ewald, Whitney Hoesing, Britt Lehr, Kayla Steckelberg, and Kara Williams.
The performances will feature everything from solo dances to impressive production choreographies with more than 60 performers on stage. The dances will be enhanced with beautiful, colorful costumes, various professional backdrops, and creative light design. Two special numbers that were originally performed with the musical group Brule at their Christmas concert in December will be presented.
The performances will be wonderful showcases of the talents of local students. Come and experience the artistry of dance under the direction of former touring professional Dorota Dannenbring.
Performance times are Friday, May 19 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 20 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Yankton High School/Summit Activities Center Theater. For ticket information call the Academy of Dance at 665-7729.
