Baseball team ends season on high note
On Sunday, May 7, the Vermillion baseball team played their last regular season game versus the Wagner Red Raiders.

After struggling through seven losses (several with close scores), the Tanagers put together a mini winning streak as they defeated the visitors 13-3.

Jeff Donnelly started and went the full game giving up seven hits, three walks, and registering three Ks in the 10-run-rule-shortened, six-inning stint.


Line scores: Tanagers � 13 runs, 10 hits, 4 errors, 6 lob; Raiders � 3 runs, 7 hits, 3 errors, 6 lob.

Offensive statistics for Vermillion were: Reid Meirkort � 1 for 3, 1 run, 2 RBIs; Kyle Brunick � 1 for 2, 2 runs, 3 RBIs; Jeff Donnelly � on base with 3 walks, 2 runs; John Gregg � 2 for 4, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Paul Hammond � 2 for 3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Zach Weiss � 1 for 2, 1 run; C.J. Haakinson � 1 for 2, 1 run; Tyler Thedorff � 1 for 1, 1 RBI, (the 13th); Bobby Dykstra � 1 for 4, 1 run; Jackson Freidel scored a run, after reaching base with a walk.

The season record for the Tanagers ends 2-7, and the tournament pairings have not been determined for now.
