Fifty different young people have attended from time to time. We had a core group of 20 or so regulars and there were 25-30 young people who attended every Wednesday. It has been a wonderful successful year and we hope to do it again next year even bigger and better.
The last meeting was Wednesday, May 3.
It has been a joy and a very rewarding experience for the staff and for the high school students who have been excellent helpers throughout the year. We also thank the churches and those who have provided meals each week. It is a wonderful mission to have a very worthy project right in our own community.
We would like very much for others to join in the responsibilities for next year. Nearly all of us that worked on the program this year see the importance of Christian education and have been teachers and providers of education for many years. It is time for some of those a bit younger than us to take the reins. So if you have an interest in seeing this continue, please offer your time to help.
We also want to get the word out about the summer Bible school program that will be held by a Baptist group from Indiana. The program will be held June 5-8 in the mornings for the Kids Klub. There will be a tent and a block party trailer and two or three inflatables, snow cones and games as well as Christian education. Watch for the posters and other info to come.
The United Methodist Church, First Lutheran Church, and the United Church of Christ of Wakonda have supported the Wednesday school financially and by providing housing, teachers, meals and helpers Gayle Johnson, lessons; Ashley Anderson, helper; Sharyl Loen and Beth Melstad, crafts; Megan Book, helper; Judy Swensen, music; Andy Jensen, helper; Ruth Williams, meals; Amy Luxom, helper; Nettie Tayborn, music.
