Concert to feature past, present performers
As the Yankton Children's Choir (YCC) Preparatory and Concert Choirs take the Marian Auditorium stage on June 1 for the final formal concert of the YCC's 13th season, they won't be alone.

In a tradition begun as part of the celebration of the choir's 10th anniversary season, former members are invited to join them in singing the YCC's signature song, To Music.

Alums who would like to participate are asked to come to Marian Auditorium, on the Mount Marty College campus, at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 1, for a quick rehearsal.

The concert proper begins at 7:30 p.m.

Literally hundreds of children and young people have been part of YCC choirs since its inception as a summer experiment in 1994. They have come, not only from Yankton, but also from Armour, Avon, Centerville, Crofton, Fordyce, Gayville, Hartington, Irene, McLean, Mission Hill, Osmond, Scotland, Springfield, Tabor, Tripp, Tyndall, Utica, Vermillion, Viborg, Volin, Wagner, Wakonda, Wausa, and Wynot.

Two of the choir's founders Lea Ann Schramm and Margaret Lyons are still leading the award-winning program, and any questions about the Alumni Choir or the Yankton Children's Choir may be directed to Schramm (605/665-4394; or Lyons (605/665-9337;, or you may write to the Yankton Children's Choir, Box 409, Yankton, SD 57078.
