The book signing was sponsored by the Friends of the W.H. Over Museum (FOM) to mark the publication of Dr. Farber's new book and as a means to raise funds for the heating and cooling system replacement project currently under way at the museum. Farber is a long-time member and supporter of the FOM organization and the museum it now operates and totally funds. Farber recently donated $1,000 to the lighting project which will illuminate the museum's front walkways.
The Friends of the W.H. Over Museum have also received additional donations totaling $4,000 from the Civic Council, two FOM members, and a Vermillion family. Those contributions were made to help pay for replacement of the museums heating and the cooling system.
The environmental systems replacement project began last month and is expected to be completed later this summer. Individuals and organizations interested in contributing to the project should contact the FOM's Fund Raiser, Maxine Johnson; mail their contribution to Friends of the W.H. Over Museum, Environmental System Replacement Fund, 414 East Clark, Vermillion, SD 57069; or stop by the museum.
Your support and donations are greatly appreciated and will help the FOM continue to make the collections of South Dakota's first museum available to the public and continue W.H. Over's legacy of preserving South Dakota's natural and cultural heritage and passing it on to present and future generations.
