Geis awarded $500 scholarship

Jacob Geis, Newcastle, NE, received a $500 Robert Boeckenhauer Memorial Scholarship during the University of Nebraska Block & Bridle Banquet on April 21.�

Geis, a freshman majoring in animal science, is the son of Ron and Cindy Geis of Newcastle. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 2005.

Geis is very active in college, as a member of Block & Bridle, the Animal Science Leadership Academy, Freshman Campus Leadership Associates and Dean's Scholars in Experimental Leadership.

He plans to obtain his DVM degree and practice veterinary medicine in rural Nebraska.
