Works by Tyler Ferrier and Andrew Kosten will be on display at the Washington Street Arts Center Friday, May 12 with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m.

This week the Main Gallery in the USD Fine Arts Center is exhibiting Departing Impressions with a reception Friday, May 12 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Vermillion High School presents the musical Once Upon a Mattress Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 14 at 2:30 p.m. Both the concert and the musical take place in the high school auditorium.

The Children's Theatre Company of South Dakota will present Free to Be ? You and Me, Marlo Thomas' delightful collection of poems, stories and songs, Sunday, May 14 at 2 and 7 p.m., Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. in the Wayne S. Knutson Theatre. Admission is $5, and tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 10. Reservations can be made by calling the University Theatre box office at 677-5400 between noon and 5 p.m.

The Vermillion Farmer's Market and the Vermillion Area Arts Council present the Midweek Food & Arts Festival every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. through Oct. 25 at the Washington Street Arts Center.

The Yankton Children's Choir (Concert and Preparatory choirs) will be holding auditions May 18-19, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, 5th and Walnut, Yankton (use alley door). The choirs are open to all area children/young people who will be in third through eighth grades next fall. First come, first served. All singers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Main Gallery in the USD Fine Arts Center is exhibiting "Dreams Unearthed," recent ceramic sculpture by alumnus E. Valentine DeWald II, through June 4 with a reception on Saturday, May 20, from 3 to 5 p.m.

World renowned Indian musician Sikkil "Mala" Chandrasekhar will perform at USD on May 20 at 7 p.m. in Colton Recital Hall. The performance will be in conjunction with a larger program by Indian musicians. Tickets for the concert are $10 and include refreshments which will be provided during the break. Tickets are available at the Cherry Street Grille or the Super 8 Motel.
