Gayville Gallery at 502 Washington Street in Gayville presents an exhibit of expressionistic landscape paintings by Sturgis artist Paul Peterson through July.
A reception for the artist will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 20.
Peterson, who was raised on a farm near Wakonda, earned degrees in art and art education from Black Hills State University and has exhibited widely in the region. "My most recent series of paintings," Peterson said, "really came into focus while I was teaching art at a small, private Mennonite school. This school, Freeman Academy, is located about 30 miles north of Yankton in Freeman. My dad still farms nearby, so during that year I was able to spend time helping out and getting a feel for farm life again."
Gayville Gallery is open two hours prior to concerts or by appointment. Call 605-267-2859.
