Tanager baseball team avenges earlier loss
A game against Dakota Valley on May 4 was played under cool weather conditions, but the Tanagers were hot as they shut down the undefeated 8-0 Panthers with a scorching 10-0 victory.

John Gregg started and held the opponents to one hit during his six-inning stint. He registered two Ks and gave up a base on balls, as his teammates played nearly faultless defense.

Roman LaMie relieved in the final inning, giving up one hit and a walk.


Line scores: Tanagers � 10 runs, 10 hits, 3 errors, 9 lob; Panthers � 0 runs, 2 hits, 4 errors, 6 lob.

Significant offensive statistics for Vermillion were: Reid Meierkort � 4 for 4, 3 RBIs; Ryan Gilbertson � 3 for 3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Jeff Donnelly � 2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; John Gregg � 1 for 3, 1 run; Paul Hammond � on base 4 times with walks, scored twice and drove in the 10th run with a bases-loaded base on balls.

The season record for the Tanagers is now 1-7.
